Privacy Policy

Truxpo and the BC Trucking Association (BCTA) take the issue of your privacy seriously and make every effort to safeguard your personal information. Any personal information that you provide to us is collected, used and disclosed in accordance with the B.C. Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act or other applicable legislation. This Privacy Policy describes the type of information that we collect from you, both indirectly and directly, from the Truxpo website and how we use it.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By visiting www.truxpo.com and/or filling out forms on this website, you are accepting the practices that this policy describes.

What is Personal Information?

Personal information is recorded information about an identifiable individual. Personal information includes such things as an individual's name, address, birth date, e-mail address and phone number. It does not include business contact information.

What kind of information is Truxpo collecting?

A. Information collected automatically regarding your website visit

When you visit the Truxpo website to browse, read pages, or download information, we will gather and log certain information about the visit using “cookies” (described below). The following information is automatically collected and stored:

  1. The Internet Protocol (IP) Address and domain name used. The IP address is a numerical identifier assigned either to your Internet service provider or directly to your computer;
  2. The type of browser and operating system;
  3. The date and time of the visit;
  4. The length of each visit; and
  5. The number of requests per visit.

During some visits we may use software tools such as JavaScript to measure and collect session information, including page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs) and methods used to browse away from the page.

We never reference your IP address to personally identifiable information. The site administrator uses information collected automatically for purposes such as error notification, assessing system performance and web site management. At times portions of the log files may be viewed by others for administrative or security reasons or when required by law.

B. Information that you volunteer

Truxpo does not collect personal information about you unless you voluntarily provide it. Personal information that you do provide will only be used by Truxpo and BCTA staff to fulfill the purpose for which it was originally collected or for a use consistent with that purpose unless you expressly consent otherwise. Most contact information that we collect is business related.

Truxpo collects the following voluntary registration information from potential attendees:

  • Name
  • Title & Company
  • Address
  • E-mail address
  • Spouse’s name
  • Child(ren)’s name(s)

Supplying registration information prior to the dates of the Truxpo show eliminates the entry fee for you and your family. If you choose not to supply this information on the website, this will only affect the requirement of entry fee payment for the show. This information is embedded in a bar code on a show badge that you personally pick up at Truxpo on the day that you attend. You do not need to provide the names of your spouse and/or child(ren); this information is merely to facilitate badge creation and is not required if you choose not to provide it. Exhibitors at Truxpo can, with your consent, wave a wand over the badge to access your contact information in the bar code. This is the only method by which exhibitors can access your information, since Truxpo does not distribute or otherwise disclose the attendee list. The bar code on your badge and on the badges of your spouse/child(ren) contains your contact information. Truxpo does not keep separate information on your family members beyond their names.  We use your e-mail address to confirm that we have received your registration.  We do not share e-mail addresses, other than as described above.

Truxpo collects the following information from exhibitors about Premier Guests:

  1. Name
  2. Title & Company
  3. Address
  4. E-mail address
  5. Spouse’s name

This information is confidential. Truxpo uses it to send out invitations to exhibitors’ guests for the Premier Showing held on Thursday, October 2, 2008. Again, the name of the guest’s spouse is not required, but we do need to know the number of guests attending. In addition, since some companies are run by families, both spouses may take an active part in the business and exhibitors may want the invitation to reflect this. No one other than authorized Truxpo and BCTA staff has access to this list and we do not share it.

How do we protect your information?

Truxpo stores information collected from the website in a database on a secure server. We fulfill our security responsibilities through regular remote back-ups, updating security patches promptly and periodic reviews of our security systems and procedures. No one other than authorized Truxpo and BCTA staff has access to your data, which is password protected. Physical access to the server/computers on-site is restricted to Truxpo and BCTA staff during office hours and is locked off after hours.

How long do we store your information?

Truxpo saves exhibitor and all registrant information from one show to another on our secure server. The information is used only for notification when registration is open for the following show, as a service to potential exhibitors.

Links to other sites

The Truxpo website includes links to the websites of show exhibitors, if they have one, which are operated by other organizations and private businesses. When you link to another site, this Privacy Policy will not apply; however, you may be subject to the privacy policy of that new site, if one exists. Truxpo is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites. We recommend that you review the privacy policy of any external website that you visit.

Cookies

Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that your web browser stores on your computer when you use some internet sites.

Persistent cookies store personal information, such as your name or e-mail address, to identify you whenever you access a web site. Persistent cookies are stored on your hard drive for a length of time set by the internet site.

Per-session cookies store information within a single session (or visit to a website). During the visit, your browser exchanges information with the web server. Per-session cookies facilitate this exchange by reminding the server which computer is making the request. Unlike persistent cookies, per-session cookies are cached (stored in memory) during a site visit and are deleted from the cache when you leave the website. Per-session cookies do not permanently record data or give the website access to anything else on your system, including private information.

The Truxpo website uses only per-session cookies to gather the type of data described in section A, “Information collected automatically regarding your website visit,” above. Cookies issued from our website are used only by our website. We do not use cookies issued by other websites.
